Developers’ Day which took place on the premises of Telenor company on June 09 is just another in the series of events organized with an aim to promote Firefox OS.
(Podgorica, June 09, 2013) A one-day workshop on development of apps for Firefox OS was organized in cooperation with Mozilla and Comoyo. This event garnered great interest in Podgorica with more than 20 developers from Montenegro who had an opportunity to listen to lectures of representatives of Mozilla and Comoyo in attendance.
“Support of local developers is very important to us, in order for Firefox OS to gain recognition in Montenegro. Therefore, participants were among the first who have been given access to Firefox phones still under development, to help them properly test apps designed for this mobile platform, Telenor representative Tamara Džuver explained. Mozilla rep Alex Lakatos presented Mozilla’s goals and next steps the company plans to undertake when it comes to development of Firefox OS to workshop participants. After that, Jan Jongboom and Olav Nymoen, Norwegian Comoyo’s developers presented basic functions of Firefox OS to local developers, as well as hourslong development of apps at the very event.
‘’We can expect much from Firefox mobile platform because we finally have an OS which behaves naturally with HTML 5,” one of the developers at the event Bojan Ćinćur (Digitalizuj.me) explains. Ivan Mitrić (Fleka company) believes that “Firefox OS is very user-friendly, so all those who have created any HTML 5 webpage at some point will also be able to create an app for Firefox mobile platform just as easily.”
A competition which will include prizes for the best and the most creative ones among developers will be organized after the workshop. “Our goal is for this competition with the main prize worth EUR5,000 to encourage development of applications, having in mind that local apps are very important for popularisation of this OS, “ Telenor PR Adrijana Husić added.
We also remind you that Telenor, together with the Mozilla community and Comoyo company, participates in development of Firefox OS, whereas the first phones running on this mobile platform will hit the markets in Montenegro, Serbia and Hungary by end 2013.
