Telenor continues to deliver innovation first into the Montenegro market by switching on the new fourth generation (4G) broadband network in four municipalities today.  Customers in Podgorica, Bar, Niksic and Cetinje are the first to be able to experience one of the fastest broadband services available in the globe today.

“Our customers have told us they increasingly want access to information and entertainment on their devices, anywhere, anytime and at much faster speeds. With Telenor’s new 4G network customers will have an incredible surfing experience. There is no lag or drag time when downloading or streaming videos or music, all online multi-media application can be utilized seamlessly, uploading pictures to Facebook is virtually instantaneous and the surfing experience means you will not wait for pages to load. We are excited to be one of the first operators in the region and Europe to provide the future world standard of 4G in Montenegro and for our customers”, said Brad Byblow, Chief Marketing Officer.

‘’4G is a fourth generation wireless technology that allows significantly more data to pass through a network at speeds of up to 6x faster than traditional 3G networks and much faster than standard ADSL. 4G brings a double benefit to customers with its speed and response time. Speed is important when it comes to the time it takes to download internet pages or upload files, while the response time refers to the time it take the internet to respond to a customer query on a server like Google. 4G allows customers to share photos and videos on Facebook almost instantly, or watch high definition videos without interruption or buffering. 4G can reach speeds up to 75Mbit/s though the actual speed customers should expect will range between 20-40Mbit/sec, determined by the number of users on the network and distance from the base station‘’, further explained Telenor Director for Digital Services and Internet Brano Djurovic.

Effective today, Telenor is offering 4G to PC and tablet users though in early 2013, when phone manufactures will have more devices available, we will be introducing the first 4G enabled mobile phone into the market. By this, Telenor can confidently say that we will have the best coverage, quality and capacity, and we will continue to lead developments in this area.
